about i-Quip
Simply A Need
In 2003 Debi Brady , former gold level endurance riding , founded i-Quip Ltd , UK, with a vision to create the "best riding gilet" ever. To fill a "need" and a "niche" in equestrian rider wear , which wasn’t available at the time. After years of reseach and development into design, quality manufacture, fabric and components, but more importantly the needs of the rider, the result the patented design. "i-Quip Competitor,...an understated solution to a simple problem ".
The first i-Quip product was inspired from a purely personal need for a better way to carry , access and read a map, whilst on horse-back .The early prototype, was first created on a domestic sewing machine at Debbie’s farm kitchen table in preparation for her competitive season of Endurance Riding . The enthusiastic response from fellow competitores and their eagerness to advise on incorporating other features clearly highlighted a need for a single design to carry essential kit. Collaboration with top Le Trec competitors led to the development in the design becoming a multi-functional equestrian riding gilet specifically tailored to meet the needs of serious riders who love the adventure of long distance riding .
A design which has to date won two major awards including the silver at the 2006 World Innovation Exhibition for textiles and again in London in the same year as well as enjoying features in some of the top Uk equestrian magazines , including the British Horse Society magazine Horse , the Geographic, and Your Horse magazines.
Former World and UK Le Trec Champion David Hay-Thorburn, was instrumental in the development of an early prototype which has remained his essential piece of kit ever since …. To day the "i-Quip Competitor , " is worn by the current Uk and Scottish Champions of Le Trec and has been widely adopted throughout the sport in the Uk
Throughout its development the i-Quip concept has gained the interest of other sporting sectors such as , carriage driving, cycling, running and walking., including the emergency Search and Rescue bike squad . As a result the i-Quip Competitor has become a catalyst in creating the growing collections of designs to meet the needs of these other sporting sectors.
